As a river flows through a landscape it carries with it the memory of that place."
-John O'Donohue
Dover's intentions and hopes behind creating this body of work titled "The Water's Edge" have become deeply personal as she relocated to Orillia from Grimsby [in 2013].
"[The] water has become the connecting visual force through my year of many changes. Whether as a swamp, river or pond, water is a mysterious mirror. Its infinitely deep reflections are a great visceral metaphor for the perceptions of one's own world".

Artist's Statement
The Beverly Swamp Conservation area was the starting point for the year of images that resulted in "The Water's Edge". I had been there many times over the past fifteen years either to work myself or to take students painting. The swamp provides an oasis of natural beauty and calm in an otherwise overcrowded, busy, noisy world. While there I could immerse myself in the "otherness" it provided and paint surrounded only by the sounds of bullfrogs, birds and insects. There is beauty in every turn in this important natural watershed.
